Learn to Soar in a Motorglider!

Adding a glider rating to your SEL or PPL. Cost for flight instruction is approximately $3000 for a private add-on and $3500 for a commercial add-on. Or begin from scratch and learn to soar as your first flight skill if you are 14 years and older (Sky King Soaring flight school has instructed students up to 92 years old). No medical or driver license is necessary to learn to fly and operate a motorglider. This is particularly important to those who have lost their medicals or to those who don’t qualify for a light sport rating. For all advantages of a motorglider compared to a light sport see our comparison page.

In our aircraft

The Diamond Xtreme motorglider charge is $140 per hour plus $100 per hour for flight instruction, for a total of $240 per hour for dual flight instruction. Ground instruction is $90 per hour.

In your aircraft

In your (Diamond, Stemme S6 or S10 , Pipstrel Pipistrel Sinus or Virus and Super Ximango) motorglider, Sky King Soaring™ can fly with you for $100 per hour for flight instruction, or $700 per day plus expenses at your location.

Our flight school of excellence offers training at all levels – private, commercial, or flight instructor (CFIG).

Students from abroad

If you have no flight experience expect to spend up to $8000-$12000 for a private glider rating (PPL Glider). COSTS MAY BE LESS if you have previous flight experience and are quite fluent in English. It is possible to learn to fly in our flight school and receive a (motor-) glider license without a medical certification even if you are not an American resident!
